Every year on October 5th, the spotlight turns to Vranec World Day (VWD). What started as a modest day of recognition has now grown into a week of experiences, and it continues to stretch its branches toward becoming a month-long global celebration. This evolution mirrors the story of Vranec itself as a bold, expansive, and full of promise.

This year, the journey begins in the Vardar River Valley, often called the wine artery of Macedonia. Here, twelve wineries and vineyards open their gates to an international group of wine journalists and experts. For five days, they will walk the vineyards, taste from the barrels, and share conversations with winemakers whose lives are deeply tied to Vranec. The welcome day sets the tone with a masterclass dedicated to the valley and its emblematic grape variety, where tastings of Vranec wines offer the first glimpse into its diverse expressions.

On October 3rd, science and passion meet at the Vranec Conference. Local and international researchers gather to unveil the latest insights into Vranec, its genetics, adaptability, and unique profile. The conference does not stop at theory, guests will also experience Vranec in the glass, tasting wines from across Macedonia and even beyond its borders.

Then comes the evening that lingers in memory, the Vranec Wine Salon, on October 4th at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Here, wine and art intertwine in a single, sensorial celebration. Producers from Macedonia and neighboring Balkan regions present their finest Vranec wines, creating a dialogue of styles and traditions. Surrounded by contemporary art, the Salon becomes a stage where the grape itself performs.

As October unfolds, Vranec is a story of valleys and rivers, of winemakers and visionaries, of heritage and future. Vranec World Day 2025 is about raising a culture, a connection, and a celebration that grows with every vintage.
