Sarika Winery – A Rising Gem from Prilep Wine District

High in the Prilep Wine District, at more than 700 meters above sea level, lies a tiny but remarkable estate – Sarika Winery. Owning less than one hectare of vines in the unique terroir that bears the same name, Sarika is a true boutique producer. Despite its small scale, the winery is pioneering the revival of the Prilep wine district, proving that authenticity, precision, and passion can yield world-class wines. Their signature style is marked by juiciness and aromatic intensity, making each bottle a rare expression of place.

At the Balkan International Wine Competition (BIWC), Sarika earned 90 points for two wines: the Sarika Muscat 2024 and Sarika Vranec 2022, both of which showcase the depth and diversity of this high-altitude terroir.

Sarika Muscat 2024
A delicate and elegant wine, the Muscat opens with floral notes of elderflower, gently followed by  grapey aromas and a subtle touch of mountain herbs. A fine line of minerality, reminiscent of wet stones, runs through the bouquet. On the palate, it is dry, with vivid acidity, mid body, and a harmonious finish that leaves a clean, refreshing impression.

Sarika Vranec 2022
The Vranec is bold and full of character, reflecting both the varietal and the high-altitude terroir. The nose shows black fruits, blackberry and juicy black cherry, layered with sweet spice notes reminiscent of coconut shell.
The palate is dry, with refreshing acidity, full body, and velvety yet firm tannins. Flavors of sour cherry, black currant, and a herbal touch intermingle with toasty and spiced nuances, leading to a long, enjoyable finish. Complex, intense, and structured, it is a wine that speaks with authority.

Wine lovers will soon have the chance to experience these rare gems firsthand. Sarika Winery will present its awarded Muscat and Vranec at the upcoming “Taste of Awards 2025”.
For Sarika, this participation is not only recognition of their achievements but also an opportunity to put Prilep’s reborn wine heritage on the Macedonian wine map.
