The second day of wine workshops at Vinodonia 2024 started with the presentation of Hungarian wines. The presenter was Hungarian sommelier József Krizmanits.

At the workshop shrouded in secrets and legends, sommelier József Krizmanits very successfully introduced Hungarian wines to the guests through a very clear and cheerful presentation.
​The Hungarian wine journey took place through about fifteen wines, starting with simple Cserszegi Fűszeres and traditional spritzer through dry Furmint, rare Sarfeher and Kéknyelű, some from volcanic soil, through Kadarka and Blaufrankish, all the way to the dry Samorodnii and famous sweet Tokaji Aszú wines.
​It aroused great interest among the majority of the audience, who are hearing and tasting Hungarian wines for the first time. It was a very useful and successful wine workshop. 

The dry Szamorodni and mineral Badacsonyi Kéknyelű caught our eye.

The day continued with a very interesting presentation by the sommelier Natalija Kenjeric, who presented Serbian wines made from Serbian crosses, that are lesser-known to the vast majority of the audience. That was actually the goal, to try something new and enrich personal wine experience.
Those present had the opportunity to hear and taste wines from the following crosses: Sila (white), Neoplanta (white), Morava (white), and Probus (red). 
Although there are a huge number of crosses in the world of wine, very few wines have established themselves with very good to excellent quality. However, we are not traditionalists in this matter, and from this workshop, we single out Neoplanta Bajilo 2022 from Fruska Gora.

​WINE & HEART 

Although we did not attend, we will certainly mention one of perhaps the most unique workshops dedicated to wine and the heart, led by Emilija Lazarova MD (cardiologist) from the University Clinic of Cardiology.

​We welcome this brilliant idea and look forward to her next workshop.

​At the very end, a workshop was held where Chateau Kamnik winery presented its vertical line of their  premium Merlot Single Vineyards wines. The vertical tasting of a total of eight vintages (2009 - 2020) was led by sommelier Jane Nedanoski and Kamnik's winemaker Sandra Georgievska. ​

​The vertical is carried out from the oldest to the newest vintage, which is usually done when there is a long vertical and when bolded wines are involved, with the aim of easier evaluation of subtle notes in older vintages. The tasting clearly showed the development of the wines and the influence of the characteristics of the vintages. After a big dilemma between 2011 from Magnum bottle, and 2013, our final decision fell on Merlot Single Vineyard 2013. Although in nuances, freshness, harmony and juiciness in 2013 prevailed over the wonderful tertiary notes in 2011. 
​Finally, the 2012 and 2017 vintages were served, which were missing from the vertical, or rather, were separated for their iconic wine, Merlot Signature Grand Reserva.

These two days were another useful wine experience. We continue on, stay tuned!
