A wine with character and a challenging message I cannot remember how this bottle came into my hands. If it was a gift, thank you. It definitely made my day better, let's say heavenly.
From my humble experience about Greek wines, I can point out Syrah is a very successfully wines from Greece. The vast majority of Syrah wines I have tasted were blends, mostly with local grape varieties, and from the northern part of Greece. Almost all of them were marked by the understandably less varietal aromaticity of Syrah, but all distinctive, powerful, full bodied, driven by ripe aromas of black fruits, good to very good quality level. This one was a "bit" different. Already at the first sniff, if I didn't know the label, I would say it was from France (probably because of the light brett). Somewhere between the northern and southern Rhône, that gap that is not filled with vineyards. I quickly looked at the label again to be sure for the origin, and then I noticed the name of the wine "Paradise can wait", okay, you have my attention. Complex, intense aromas of ripe black plum, green paper, black olives, hint of milk chocolate and traces of cigar box. On the palate, dry with vivid acidity, full bodied with fine-grained tannins, and well integrated high alcohol, mid-intense flavours of red fruits and olives, harmonious with log finish. Elegant, spicy, and powerful, with very good quality. Cheers!
